A nice run with a Shrimp on the Shirt... What more could you want? - 2013 Race By: E. P. - (Buffalo, NY)
I am a runner who runs 5-10 races a year for fun and fitness.
Race Course: It was a very flat course shaped like an elongated loop. There was no way to get lost, & miles were well marked with signs and volunteers. The race took you down two roads that ran parallel to the beach, you got to look at a lot of nice beach homes, and despite the pouring rain a good number of residents were out cheering the runners on from their decks, porches and front lawns. Considering the weather that morning there was a very nice upbeat crowd at the finish line cheering finishers on.
Water Stations: It's a 5K and it was pouring rain, so I didn't really need water stations, but the route took you by 2 water stations, and the people attending it were friendly and cheering you on, regardless of the pouring rain.
T-Shirt: It has a happy shrimp on it!! What more could you want?! (It also was true to size and a nice blue color that I've received complements on... Never received complements on a race shirt before, so that's cool.)
Cause/Charity: The local YMCA, so that's nice!
Packet Pickup: Packet pickup was very easy, and done at the YMCA, strangely you couldn't get your chip with your packet and had to get it the morning of the race at the race site. This was a very quick process and I got the chips for the 3 runners in our group in about 2 minutes.
Race Day Parking: There was plenty of race day parking, and room for plenty more had the weather been better.
Post Race Entertainment: The pouring rain may have cut down on this, but we didn't see any. There were tables with fresh fruit and water bottles, which is nice... Shrimp Fest itself must be the entertainment!
All in all a nice race supporting a great cause, and you get a t-shirt with a shrimp on it!!

Loved the race - 2013 Race By: Jim Wood - (Yulee, FL)
The weather was rainy, wet and blustery...but that's what made it a challenge and a great sense of accomplishment afterwards. Not many folks stayed around; however, the organizers were very friendly, helpful and stuck it out till the end. Thanks to everyone involved...great race!!
