Hooters to Hooters: A Solid Race - 2013 Race By: Joey B. - (Fort Myers, FL)
Hooters to Hooters is a solid race. You get to see some beautiful neighborhoods, amazing bridge views, and a flat and fast approach to the finish line. I don't know what the reviewer below was doing that he got lost as the course was marked extremely well. There were more than enough water stations, packet pickup was a breeze, and the entertainment after the race was MORE than most halves in larger cities. I definitely recommend this race.

Nice, slightly challenging race. - 2013 Race By: T. H. - (Fort Myers, FL)
Fairly technically challenging course in the front half; if you're not good at optimizing your line, figure you're going to be doing some extra distance. The back half has the major hill of the course on Mile 8 and 9 (out and back on the Edison bridge), then it's flat and straight to the end. Crowd support is decent, although not as good as one might hope. Some nice views on the course, especially in the neighborhoods near McGregor, on the bridge as you go over and back, and passing City of Palms Park.
The afterparty was very nice -- beer and wings for runners, with door prizes, all in the Hooters parking lot. It's a welcome break from stale bagels and old bananas.
My one beef was that the 2013 race started without any fanfare at all. No Star Spangled Banner, no starting gun, not even an airhorn. We just kind of began running all at once. Weird. Probably there was a course official at the front who started the fast runners, but we didn't hear them in the back.

Not for slow runners - 2012 Race By: D. B. - (New York, NY)
All went well till about mile 10. The is was my first half so I took it easy especially with the adverse conditions. Have run about a dozen 5Ks. Directed to turn by police and then nothing. No further directions, markers anything. Ran for about a mile more and just stopped. Fortunately had my cell and called my brother to pick me up.
