Like all the Gasparilla Distance Classic races, this races was impeccably organized. The expo is great with many vendors. The race itself was a simple out and back course along Bayshore Blvd. As the other people said, there are plenty of people cheering you on the entire course. There was a water station at every mile, which was helpful. They also provide pacers for this race which is nice if you just want to follow someone, and not have to look at your watch the whole time. Overall, one of the best races in the area.

Loved the atmosphere, there was so many people which I thought made the race awesome! Beautiful scenery and the weather was great! There was a lot of different crowds/cheerleaders on the sidelines that gave the runners that extra push. I can't wait to run this again next year...along with the 15k, 5k and half-marathon :)

One of Tampa's Finest - 2011 Race By: J. D. - (Tampa, FL)
I know that 2011 was the first year that they ran this 8k after canceling the marathon. As with all of the other Gasparilla events, the people that run this event certainly do it the right way.
The expo was awesome, as there were a ton of vendors and some pretty cheap products. It's always exciting to see a bunch of people from the community (especially those who aren't typically runners) join together to make such a great event happen.
The course isn't very exciting if you have run Bayshore before. Though, I guess if you are from out of town then this would be a pretty awesome experience.
The fans were awesome! It seemed like there were people everywhere cheering for you!
